“Imagination is more important than knowledge.
For knowledge is limited, whereas
imagination embraces the entire world,
stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution.”
The ANNEX is a social space created by WIM & Medspan Associates, located in its old facilities at 248 Roebling Street in Williamsburg with the intention of bringing together the young, their parents and grandparents to share their multi-generational experiences and partake in the ever growing and enriching cultural influx of the city and its challenging evolving patterns.
Engaging a multi-disciplinary dialogue through tradition and innovation and its manifestations through the arts, science and technology lies at the root of the various workshops and events that will be organized starting in March 2014.
Activities on site will range from art workshops to social gatherings, concerts, exhibitions or projections of the resulting community works. An important component of the activities will also focus on health and disease prevention, and seminars of interest to all will be programmed regularly to complement our yearly health fair.
Our presence on the web and social media will endeavour not only to diffuse our activities but also to encourage a dialogue beyond our community so as to share our experience and learn from that of others.
The ANNEX is a place that wants to be yours to enjoy the other.
Inauguration of the MedSpan Clinic / First Health Fair – June 2012
The opening of our new facilities was celebrated by a colorful community event conceived by renowned international artist Miralda from Spain, involving the participation of all through the sharing of traditional foods and drinks, art and music.
It was also our first Health Fair with our doctors in attendance, giving advice, taking blood pressure and sharing information.
It was no coincidence that we came to Miralda for this occasion. As an artist, he has been working for more than 40 years on the cultural manifestations and associations of food and art, creating his own rituals around particular events and celebrations. His most festive one being the HONEYMOON PROJECT inaugurated by Mayor Koch in 1986 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City. Many global events followed this first presentation of the Engagement Ceremony between the Statue of Liberty in New York and the Columbus Monument in Barcelona, a symbolic liaison between the Old and the New World that culminated by the official wedding ceremony in Las Vegas in 1992, year of the Fifth Centenary of the Discovery of America.
For us, it was a special and successful event to also stress our nutritional program.Right: the bilingual tablemat programs designed by Miralda. Below: “El Dia de los Sures”, the June 2012 event as filmed for us by Beloze Productions, Barcelona.
